The Journal of Vitaminology 11, 234-238 (1965) Conditions for Thiaminic Acid Formation1

چکیده
In the previous paper (1), thiaminic acid (TnA), a new oxidation product of thiamine , was reported to be easily formed through oxidation of thiol-type thiamine derivatives by H2O2 in an acetic acid solution. The thiol-type thiamine derivatives which induce TnA were shown to be the compounds which are readily converted to free thiamine by the reaction with thiol compounds. In the present experiment, the conditions for oxidation of O-benzoylthiamine disulfide (BTDS) were investigated to elucidate the condition and mechanism of TnA formation. It was found that in the case of the oxidation by hydrogen per oxide, the use of lower fatty acid as the solvent gave higher yields but the reaction proceeded fairly well in an aqueous medium. The formation of TnA was also observed by the use of some other oxidizing agents.

Studies on the Effect of Tryptophan Deficiency on the Metabolic Products of Tryptophan and Niacin.
In 1906, Hopkins and Willcox reported that tryptophan was essential for animals nutrition. Since then, the effect of tryptophan deficiency upon animal nutrition has been discussed by many authors. Recently the interrelation between trypto phan and niacin metabolism was demonstrated. On the other hand, Kotake and his collaborators studied tryptophan metabolism, being especially interested in kyn...

متن کاملKinetic Studies on the Reaction between Thiol-type Thiamines and Oxidized Egg Albumin.
In the studies on chemical interaction of thiamine derivatives with proteins (l, 2), it has been reported that a protein-thiamine complex was formed between SH-groups of protein and symmetrical thiamine disulfide, such as thiamine disulfide (TDS) or O-benzoylthiamine disulfide (BIDS), and also between SS groups of iodine-oxidized egg albumin and thiol-type thiamines, such as thiamine or 0 benzo...
